Our 2014 USA Program
What are the criteria of an Eisenhower Fellow?
• USA candidates must be U.S. citizens or legal permanent residents aged 32-45.
• They all have a track record of achievement, high potential for further growth and for broader impact in and beyond their professional fields.
• They have designed for themselves a fellowship program that takes full advantage of this unique opportunity to leverage their professional and leadership skills.
• They have identified how they will undertake consequential activities that will better the world around them as a result of their fellowship.
• They have committed to engage actively with the global Eisenhower Fellowship
network throughout their lifetime.
What is an Eisenhower Fellowship?
Every year we select eight to twelve high-achieving professionals from all walks of life for this program. Successful applicants will receive an all-expense paid, five-week overseas program in one or two country/countries of their choice. Each program is tailored to the Fellows' professional and personal interests, and is designed and implemented by the Fellow with the assistance of an experienced Program Officer and an in-country coordinator. We operate the USA Program in 37 countries where we have on-the-ground programming capabilities. In return, we place two expectations on the Fellows. First, that they bring back knowledge, skills and international contacts which they will use to better their communities. Second, that they identify consequential outcomes which justify the investment we make in their leadership development. They become part of our global fellowship network of 1900 leaders for a lifetime of engagement.

The recruitment for 2014 Fellows will be on a nationwide basis for all USA fellowships. We will also conduct recruitments in our existing "regional hubs" located in: Philadelphia, PA; St. Louis, MO; Research Triangle, NC; and New England, centered in Boston, MA. Spouses/partners are encouraged to accompany Fellows, with limited professional appointments provided for them. Because of the intense appointment and travel schedule, children are not permitted on the program.
In addition to a general USA fellowship, EF also selects one or two active farmer(s) or rancher(s) to travel abroad to meet with small and commercial farmers, farm organizations, businesses in the agriculture industry, government representatives, and university researchers as an USA Agriculture Fellow. The successful agriculture candidate will meet all of the criteria of a USA fellowship candidate. The application, selection process, fellowship requirements and benefits are the same as a general USA fellowship.
Where do USA Fellows travel?
Fellows select up to two countries from the following: Argentina, Australia, Bangladesh, Belgium (European Commission), Brazil, Chile, China, China (Taiwan), Colombia, Egypt, Finland, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Ireland/Northern Ireland, Italy, Japan, Jordan, Kenya, Korea, Malaysia, Mexico, Mongolia, New Zealand, Peru, Philippines, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Africa, Spain, Sri Lanka, Sweden, Thailand, Turkey, Uruguay and Vietnam.
How do I apply for a USA Fellowship?
The recruitment cycle for 2014 USA Eisenhower Fellowships will begin on January 1, 2013, and will close on June 14, 2013. Before applying for an Eisenhower Fellowship, please review both the 2014 Applicant Information package and the 2014 USA Application below. To apply for an Eisenhower Fellowship, please submit the application to jriley@efworld.org. The USA Program Director will host webinars starting at the end of February of 2013 in which interested candidates can learn more about the fellowship and ask questions. To join one of the three scheduled webinars, please click on the applicable link below to register. You must register in advance to join the webinar at its listed start time.
We will place finalists in a pool from which we will award fellowships.

In-person interviews for finalists:
In-person Interviews: All finalists will be invited to interview before a blue ribbon steering committee. Please see the dates and locations below for those interview, and hold that date until you have been notified of your status. For national candidates outside of one of our "hub" areas (Philadelphia, Boston, Raleigh/Durham, St. Louis), as well as Agriculture candidates, the interview will be held in Philadelphia. Transportation is at the expense of Eisenhower Fellowships.
